Thinking about returning to the Hoover Dam tonight, this time with two cameras and 7 batteries between them. Fool me once and all that.
Lake Mead Sunset: My 20D’s battery was DOA, so I was left with only my cell phone. Excellent preparation and forethought on my part. I was planning on pictures of the dam, but I was too disheartened to wait. Took this on the way out.

Big Falls, Mt. Charleston: I’ve done a lot more driving on backcountry roads than hiking out here, but so far, this is the most enjoyable hike I’ve been on. I was pleased to see that there was still water running, although I hear it’s much more impressive during the spring. I’ll just have to go back!

Big Falls, Mt. Charleston: Another look at Big Falls. This one underwent some blending between two exposures, which I’m not entirely happy with.

Up the Wash, Kyle Canyon: The trail to Big Falls follows this wash almost all the way up, leaving it only when necessary to circumvent smaller falls and large boulders. I was hiking in the evening, so the light on the cliffs around me was approaching ‘golden hour’. Despite “only” being part of a national forest, I think the scenery here rivals the national parks.

Goodnight, Keystone: Went on an enjoyable scamble up a small hill to watch the sunset. I believe these cliffs are part of those known as the Keystone Thrust, slightly south of the Red Rock Canyon NCA.
